  5. Ribosomal protein S10 is one of the proteins from the small ribosomal subunit.
  6. In Escherichia  coli,  S10  is  known  to  be  involved in binding tRNA to the
  7. ribosomes. It    belongs to a family of ribosomal proteins which, on the basis
  8. of sequence similarities [1], groups:

  10.  - Eubacterial S10.
  11.  - Archaebacterial S10.
  12.  - Algal chloroplast S10.
  13.  - Cyanelle S10.
  14.  - Marchantia polymorpha mitochondrial S10.
  15.  - Mammalian S20.
  16.  - Rice S20.
  17.  - Xenopus S22.

  19. S10 is a protein of about 100 amino-acid residues.  As a signature pattern, we
  20. selected a conserved region located in the center of these proteins.
